How Much Does It Cost to Ship a Pet from Canada to the Philippines?

Work backwards from the flight and the sequence falls out on its own. Your pet must be at least 120 days old on the day the clearance application is filed. The rabies vaccination has to have been given at a minimum age of 84 days, and it must be at least 14 days old at the point of application, so a puppy or kitten vaccinated at the earliest permitted age is still not ready to apply for another fortnight.

The microchip has to be ISO compatible, readable by a standard ISO reader, and it goes in before the paperwork so the number can be recorded on every document. The clearance itself is applied for online and is valid for 60 days, which sounds generous until a flight moves. If your travel date slips outside that window you apply again. The international veterinary health certificate is tighter still: it must be issued within ten calendar days before export, so your veterinary appointment and your CFIA endorsement both sit inside the last week and a half.

One limit catches families out. A single importation is capped at three animals. A household moving four pets is running two shipments, which means two clearances, two sets of inspection fees and two flights to co-ordinate.

Live animal freight from Canada to Manila is quoted per booking. The airline prices it once it knows the crate outside dimensions, the loaded weight and the date, so there is no rate card to check in advance. Philippine Airlines and Air Canada Cargo both serve the route from Vancouver, and Toronto departures generally connect through Vancouver or through an Asian hub, which adds a handling stop.

Manila is warm year round, so heat embargoes are less about the season here than about the departure and connection points. Airlines set them on forecast temperature at each airport on the routing, which is one more reason a direct flight is worth its premium on a journey this long.

Your veterinarian sets their own fees. The examination, the vaccination and the certificate paperwork are priced by your clinic and vary widely between cities. Customs brokerage at Manila, if your shipment needs it, and ground transport from the airport to your address are charged separately, as is any boarding in Canada if your flight date and your own moving date do not line up.

Crate size drives the flight cost, as on every route, because freight is charged on the space the crate occupies rather than on what your pet weighs. After that, the number of animals is the variable that matters most here, because the three animal cap turns a fourth pet into a second shipment rather than a second line on an invoice. Departure city is the other one. Vancouver has options that Toronto and the Atlantic provinces do not, and the domestic leg shows up in both the price and the handling count.
